8 - What makes someone a hero?

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Hero is a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities. In other words, someone who is brave and who is ready to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. Heroes are not defined as the ones who are wearing capes, they are far more than that. They are everywhere, wearing no
t costumes but wearing the clothe of sacrifice and suffering. True heroes are alike in comics; not only just fighting or killing villains but also they are brave like them even though they don not have super powers. True heroes are not immortal or they have superpowers but true heroes truly die for the sake of their countrymen. There are variety of heroes we have, some are the ones who are not recognized nowadays, some are recognized in history and some do not realize they are being a hero in what they do.

Heroes that are recognized are the people who showed bravery and nationalism to our country. They are heroes that are also called national heroes who fought for our liberty before. Most of them died fighting for our independence and freedom that is why they are honored and respect until now. Though, we have modern national heroes whom who fought for our country's unity and defense. They are the soldiers. Fallen or not they still are heroes and we salute them for their dedication and strength. There are also heroes that are recognized but not national heroes, they are the ones who showed mercy to others like Efren Penaflorida, Rona Mahilum, Sajid Bulig, Jesse Robredo etc.

Do not feel bad if you are not one of the heroes that have been recognized, that is fine. I mean who cares about being recognize being a hero? For fame's sake? And glory? I would prefer to be a hero in my own way without anyone knowing it. Because when you do something brave and kind like heroes do and then someone has been affected by it became happy, I think that is the best feeling in the world rather than being recognize or given an award.
